6 cars crash after other vehicle crosses lanes to exit I-95 in Bangor

A crash involving six vehicles late Saturday morning left two people with minor injuries and temporarily stopped traffic on Interstate 95 in Bangor.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes near mile marker 186 just before 11 a.m., Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said. Mile marker 186 is in the area of the Stillwater Avenue exit.
After an initial investigation, police said a vehicle traveling in the passing lane sped up and crossed into the travel lane to take exit 186. A vehicle in the right lane braked quickly to avoid a collision causing a chain reaction crash involving three vehicles that blocked both northbound lanes.
The car that took the exit wasn’t involved and did not stop, Moss said.
The first crash caused a secondary crash also involving three vehicles. Two people in one of these vehicles were brought to a local hospital with minor injuries, Moss said.
Traffic was blocked for about an hour while the scene was cleared.
